Bill Clinton: Blair-Major Friendship Developed During Brexit Tour Former President Bill Clinton talks about building relationships across the political aisle and his friendships with former Presidents George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush. He also talks about how former British Prime Ministers John Major and Tony Blair, who were once political rivals, became friends when they toured Northern Ireland together in 2016 to plead with voters there to support remaining within the European Union, arguing that it would protect the peace process that they were instrumental in getting off the ground in the 1990s. President Clinton goes on to say that identity politics in the U.S. today is bad for the country and that trust must be restored. Quoting former Canadian Prime Minister Jean Chretien, he says, "Think about the future and see people as people. Those are the two keys." close
