On May 1, 1999, Colorado's Secretary of State Vikki Buckley gave the welcome speech to the not wanted or welcome members of the National Rifle Association. Twelve days prior to the NRA's annual meeting, the first mass high school shooting happened in Littleton, CO, known as Columbine. Buckley was given permission by one of the victim's (Isiah Shoels) father Michael Shoels to give the speech. She died unexpectedly on July 14, 1999. close
