During a House Judiciary Committee hearing on social media content filtering practices, Ranking Member Jerrold Nadler uses his opening time to call out President Trump's Helsinki comments on Russia's role in meddling in the 2016 election. He calls the president's remarks a "catastrophe in the making" and says if there was no action taken, "the American people may not trust the outcome of the next election." Nadler then moves to hold an executive session on the president's comments. Representative Darrell Issa interjects, saying Nadler was called on to give an opening statement and not to make a motion to go into executive session. Chairman Goodlatte allows a vote to happen on holding an executive session, which is subsequently rejected along party lines. close
