National Security Adviser John Bolton has warned the International Criminal Court that the U.S. will respond if it tries to prosecute any Americans over their actions in Afghanistan. "The United States will use any means necessary to protect our citizens and those of our allies from unjust prosecution by the illegitimate court," Bolton said in a speech to the Federalist Society in Washington, D.C. His comments come after ICC prosecutor Fatou Bensouda called for an investigation into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. Bolton went on to say, "we will let the ICC die on its own. After all, for all intensive purposes the ICC is already dead to us." close
