State Department Spokesperson Heather Nauert tells reporters that officials have been in contact with the Saudi ambassador regarding the whereabouts of missing journalist Jamal Khashoggi and told him they want more information when he returns from Riyadh. Jamal Khashoggi, a columnist for the Washington Post and critic of the Saudi crown prince, has not been seen since he entered the Saudi consulate in Istanbul on October 2. Nauert declines to comment on reports suggesting that Khashoggi was murdered at the consulate, saying, "We don't have the facts yet." She says the U.S. is withholding comment pending the ongoing investigation and will wait to hear back from the Saudi ambassador. close
