Senator Jack Reed, the top Democrat on the Armed Services Committee criticizes the decision to double the Overseas Contingency Operations (OCO) fund from $81 billion to $165 billion in the president's fiscal year 2020 budget request for the Pentagon. "Overloading the OCO request with activity that truly belongs in the base budget far exceeds any president and cannot be justified," Senator Reed says. He also criticizes the the amount of funds provided for unspecified military construction projects, as well as funds allocated to build a wall at the southern border. close
