Secretary of State Mike Pompeo responds to questions from Pennsylvania Democratic Representative Susan Wild about his decision to limit press access to a March 18 briefing on international religious freedom to faith-based media, saying he would not release a transcript or divulge the names of invited participants. He also says it was his own decision to determine who should attend the briefing. The secretary also defends recent travel to Iowa and Kansas, saying he was in those states to discuss the administration's trade policy and to recruit new talent for the foreign service. His travel itinerary in recent weeks has raised speculation that he is considering a possible run for Senate in his home state of Kansas. close
