Historians Douglas Brinkley, Richard Norton Smith and Edna Greene Medford share their views on which president they think was the best writer. Douglas Brinkley cites Theodore Roosevelt's many books and letters, in particular his writings about the great outdoors. Richard Norton Smith's choice is Abraham Lincoln's second inaugural address, with Woodrow Wilson's April 1917 speech making the case to take America into the World War I being a close second. Edna Green Medford also chooses Lincoln, citing the second inaugural address, as well as his many public and private letters to friends and political peers. close
