The Senate falls short of the 67 votes needed to override President Trump's veto of a war powers resolution ending U.S. involvement in the war in Yemen. Here's a portion of the debate prior to the vote featuring senators from both parties. Seven Republicans (Collins, Daines, Lee, Moran, Murkowski, Paul and Young) joined Democrats in the 53-47 vote. Democratic Senator Michael Bennet and Republican Senator Marco Rubio did not vote. This is President Trump's second veto, the first being on a resolution to overturn his national emergency declaration to deal with the situation on the southern border with Mexico. close
