American History TV visited the Newseum in Washington, D.C., to tour its "Rise Up" exhibit looking back at the Stonewall riots, six days of protests considered to be the catalyst for the modern LGBTQ rights movement. The guide was the exhibit's curator, Patty Rhule. The riots began on June 28, 1969, after police raided the Stonewall Inn, a gay bar in New York City's Greenwich Village. close
