Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer takes to the Senate floor to announce that he plans to force a vote on a privileged resolution to try and block President Trump's national emergency declaration on the border. The minority leader also criticizes President Trump's decision to divert $3.6 billion in military construction funds to help build a wall on the southern border with Mexico, calling it a "power grab" and accusing the president of "usurping the power of the purse. Senator Schumer calls on Democrats and Republicans to reassert Congressional power when the resolution comes up for a vote. In March, the Senate voted 59-41 to terminate the president's declaration, but fell short of a veto-proof majority. close
