The long-time journalist and commentator for ABC News and NPR was the daughter of Thomas Hale Boggs, Sr., a former Democratic majority leader in the House of Representatives, and Lindy Claiborne Boggs, who succeeded her husband in Congress and later served as U.S. ambassador to the Vatican.
