Former Ukraine Ambassador Marie Yovanovitch was recalled from her post in Kyiv because President Trump had lost confidence in her. That's according to testimony from Deputy Secretary of State John Sullivan, the administration's nominee to be the next ambassador to Russia. Deputy Secretary Sullivan says he asked Secretary of State Mike Pompeo why the ambassador was being recalled and was only told again that the president had lost confidence in her. He also says that he was aware of a campaign to smear the ambassador and that Rudy Giuliani, the president's personal lawyer was involved in that campaign. He also says he received a package of documents compiled by Mr. Giuliani and that he reviewed them and turned them over to others in the department. close
