Turkey's state-run Halkbank has been indicted for busting sanctions against Iran to the tune of billions of dollars. Mnuchin met with Turkey's President Erdogan and his son-in-law Berat Albayrak, who have been implicated in the scheme, twice in the Oval Office. "Doesn't this send a horrible picture to pose in the Oval Office with sanctions violators?" Wyden asked. "I mean, is it just open season for sanctions violators in your Treasury Department?" Investigating possible Trump administration interference in a record-breaking money laundering case, the Senate Finance Committee's top Democrat Ron Wyden presses Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin for meeting with Turkish officials implicated in the Halkbank scandal.
Turkey's state-run Halkbank has been indicted for busting sanctions against Iran to the tune of billions of dollars.
