During a news conference with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo at the State Department, British Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab accuses the E.U. of threatening the Good Friday Agreement by politicizing the Irish border issue and that the Johnson government's commitment to the peace accord is "absolute." He says the Internal Market bill taken up by Parliament this week is "defensive...precautionary, and it is proportionate. But what we cannot have is the E.U. seeking to erect a regulatory border down the Irish Sea between Northern Ireland and Britain." Secretary Raab says that he is sharing that view with U.S. officials during his visit and that he is confident that U.K. can get a trade deal with the U.S., He also says that he will be meeting with Speaker Nancy Pelosi later in the day. close
