CDC Director Dr. Robert Redfield says that he believes that the next three months will be difficult ones for the nation as coronavirus infections, hospitalizations an deaths surge across the country. Speaking at an event hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Dr. Redfield says the winter months could be “the most difficult in the public health history of this nation” because of the pressure that will be place on the health care system as it becomes overwhelmed with cases. He also says the time for debate about whether mitigation steps such as wearing masks, washing one's hands, and social distancing is over, saying the CDC has data to prove that they work. close
