The House debates the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2021. The $740 billion conference report faces a veto threat from President Trump over a provision in the bill renaming military bases that currently honor Confederate officers. The conference report was later adopted (335-78) by a veto-proof majority. It now heads to the Senate for consideration. If the president vetoes the measure, both chambers would have to vote to override the measure for it to become law. close
