In prepared remarks in Wilmington, Delaware, ahead of the holidays, President-elect Joe Biden marks the loss of over 320,000 American lives to the coronavirus and warns the nations that "Our darkest days in the battle against COVID are ahead of us, not behind us." The president-elect thanks Congress for passing a $900 billion relief package but says that he will be asking for further economic relief once he takes office to ramp up testing and PPE production in order to open schools, provide aid to state and local governments experiencing revenue shortfalls as a result of the pandemic, and additional unemployment benefits. He also calls on the general public to mask up, maintain social distance and avoid large crowds--especially indoors. And he appeals for everyone to work together to get through the crises brought about by the pandemic, saying it is the only way. close
