Majority Leader Steny Hoyer says he will talk with Speaker Pelosi and fellow congressional Democrats on Monday about how they should proceed to avert a government shutdown. This comes after a unanimous consent request to increase direct payments in the COVID-19 relief package was blocked in the House just a day after President Trump requested direct payments be increased from $600 to $2,000. Leader Hoyer also says that Speaker Pelosi is in discussions with Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin about possible next steps. When asked if he believes Secretary Mnuchin now speaks for the president, Leader Hoyer responds by saying: "We'll see." close
