Senator McConnell Warns Democrats Against Ending Legislative Filibuster

Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell says he has received a personal commitment from Arizona Democratic Senator Kyrsten Sinema that she will not support doing away with the legislative filibuster. "Our colleague informed me directly last night that under no circumstances would she reverse course," McConnell says. He also notes that West Virginia Democrat Joe Manchin also opposes the move. The Republican leader goes on to warn Democrats that if they do decide to get rid of the filibuster, Republicans would respond accordingly. "If this majority went scorched earth, this body would grind to a halt like we've never seen," he says. close
