Ned Price, the State Department spokesman, pays tribute to the legacy of former Secretary George Shultz, who died Sunday at the age of 100. Mr. Price says the late secretary was "a foreign policy visionary who helped herald the peaceful end of the Cold War and whose legacy left us safer from the specter of the world's most dangerous weapons." He also says that Secretary Shultz was a "champion of the women and men of the department and it's no accident that our foreign service institute bears his name." George Shultz served as secretary of State under Ronald Reagan from 1982-1989 and was instrumental in paving the way for talks between President Reagan and Russian leader Mikhail Gorbachev. close
