Kentucky Republican Senator Rand Paul challenges Dr. Rachel Levine, the president's nominee for assistant secretary for Health on whether minors should be allowed to make their own decisions when it comes to transgender hormone therapy or surgery. Dr. Levine, who is transgender, responds, by saying that "transgender medicine is a very complex and nuanced field" and that if confirmed, she is willing to come back and talk with the senator and his staff about the subject matter. "Fourteen-year-olds can't make this decision...I can't vote for you if you can't make a decision on this," Senator Paul says. close
