State Department Spokesperson Ned Price speaks about the Treasury Department's decision to revoke a sanctions waiver that was issued on January 15 by the Trump administration for Israeli Businessman Don Gertler. "The license previously granted to Mr. Gertler is inconsistent with the America's strong foreign policy interests in combating corruption around the world and it undermined the integrity and effectiveness of the global Magnitsky sanctions program," Price says. "Mr. Gertler engaged in extensive public corruption in connection with the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Yesterday's actions further demonstrates our strong support for efforts to counter corruption and to promote stability in the DRC." close
