White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says "children presenting at our border, who are fleeing violence, who are fleeing prosecution, who are fleeing terrible situations, is not a crisis." Psaki says the administration feels responsible to "humanely approach" the situation and that the children are treated and put in conditions that are safe. She says recent photographs of the facilities only confirm the administration's view that the holding facilities are not suitable for children for extended periods and that they are working to put in place policies and solutions as quickly as possible, including expediting processing at the border, opening up additional facilities, and restarting the Central American Minors Program. close
