Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell reacts to the April jobs numbers that showed 266,000 jobs were created instead of the one million most analysts expected. He says that during the past week, he heard concerns about labor shortages and inflation and says that extra unemployment benefits included in the American Rescue Plan, passed earlier this year, are slowing the economic recovery promised by Democrats and the Biden administration. "It is May 2021. Vaccines are available nationwide. There are millions of open jobs. ‘Help Wanted’ signs from coast to coast. We should not still be taxing the Americans who are working to fund continued extra benefits for those staying home," he says. close
