Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) says a new joint congressional report by the Senate Homeland Security and Rules Committees on the January 6 attack on the Capitol only strengthens the case for an independent, bipartisan commission to find out what happened that day. He says the new report highlights intelligence failures, but doesn't address former President Trump's role in the events that transpired following his speech at the Ellipse because Republicans blocked that aspect. Senator Schumer concludes by saying he reserves the right to bring legislation back to the floor creating the commission. Last month Republicans stopped the bill from advancing. close
