CDC Director Urges Mask-Wearing and Testing When Schools Reopen in the Fall

CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky says she believes that it is critically important that schools reopen in the fall, but that students mask up to protect them from infection until they are fully vaccinated. She also says that she expects there to be an increase in upper respiratory infections among students returning together for the first time in over a year in many cases and that health and school officials will have to learn to decipher the difference between COVID-19 cases and the other infections like the common cold and flu and that testing will be a critical part of that. close
