CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky says that the more aggressive and transmissible Delta variant now makes up 83 percent of COVID-19 cases in the U.S. and that infections, hospitalizations and deaths all continue to rise. Walensky says the virus is the "most infectious respiratory viruses" she has seen her lifetime, and she calls on unvaccinated Americans to protect themselves against it by getting vaccinated.
