White House Headed Toward Agreement on Amendment That Would Tap COVID Funds for Infrastructure Projects

White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki says talks are ongoing on an amendment offered by Senator John Cornyn (R-TX) that would give state and local officials greater latitude in tapping COVID-19 relief funds for infrastructure projects. "We think we are headed toward an agreement on this front, but we are certainly cognisant and focused on the reality of funds being needed in communities across the country as we are still in the midst of fighting a pandemic and we are hopeful that any agreement on this front will take that into account front and center," she says. close
