In his first address to the United Nations General Assembly, President Biden tells delegates that the U.S. and its Western allies are not looking to start another Cold War--this time with China. His comments come days after the U.S. signed a trilateral agreement with Australia and the U.K. to compete with growing Chinese influence in the Indo-Pacific region. He also says the world is at "inflection point" when it comes to combating climate change. The president also says the world must work to combat the COVID-19 pandemic and get vaccinations in arms. And he reaffirms U.S. alliances and partnerships, including with Europe and NATO and the QUAD (U.S. India, Japan and Australia). The president concludes his remarks by stressing the importance of diplomacy to address the world's challenges and notes that with the recent withdrawal from Afghanistan, America for the first time in 20 years is not at war. close
