Democrats Looking at Ways to Raise Debt Limit, Speaker Pelosi says

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi says the debt limit needs to be raised and that lawmakers are looking at a number of options, including a clean debt limit hike. They are also exploring ways to raise the debt limit in the future, including using the 14th Amendment or passing legislation that would would require the Treasury secretary to raise it but also allow Congress to accept or reject that. Republicans have said they will not support raising the debt limit and that Democrats have the ability to do so under budget reconciliation in the Senate. close
