President Biden Threatens "Severe Consequences" If Russia Invades Ukraine

President Biden said he made clear to Russian President Vladimir Putin in their Tuesday video call that there would be "severe consequences" if Russia invades Ukraine.

"Economic consequences like none he's ever seen, or ever have been seen," the president told reporters on Wednesday before departing the White House.

President Biden said that sending U.S. troops to defend Ukraine was "not in the cards," but that the U.S. would help provide defensive capability to the Ukrainians and likely bolster its troop presence in NATO countries in Eastern Europe. close
