Following a speech closing out the Summit for Democracy, President Biden takes a couple of questions on the latest increase in inflation from 6.2 percent in October to 6.8 percent in November. The president acknowledges the impact price increases are having on households across the country but says that they are due largely to supply chain issues rather than government spending. He also says that his Build Back Better plan will help reduce costs for things people care about, including health care and child care. Asked if he could count on West Virginia Democratic Senator Joe Manchin's vote for the package with inflation continuing to rise, he says he doesn't know and that he will be talking to him early next week. close
