Secretary of State Antony Blinken responds to a question about whether Russia is making "non-starter demands" by insisting on an end to NATO's eastward expansion into Ukraine ahead of NATO talks in Europe next week on deescalating tensions. "Part of the playbook is to put out a list of absolutely non-starter demands and then to claim the other side is not engaging and then to somehow use that as justification for invading," Blinken says Russian aggression toward Ukraine is responsible for the increase in support for NATO membership. The secretary reiterates there will be "massive consequences" if Russia does invade and says that the best way to resolve the situation is to restart the Minsk talks, which he says the U.S. is prepared to facilitate. close
