U.S. Fire Administrator Lori Moore-Merrell announced the launch of a national fire strategy at Engine Company 3 in Washington, DC. She said the strategy’s purpose is “to address the threat of fire to our communities and the ramification of fire on our nation’s firefighters.” She was joined by Reps. Madeleine Dean (D-PA) and Ritchie Torres (D-NY) who spoke about fire safety, as well as leaders from top fire organizations, who spoke about various facets of the strategy. The strategy includes updating/enforcing fire codes, increasing recruitment of firefighters, and training firefighters for the increase of wildfires caused by climate change. After the remarks, a live demonstration with fire was performed to highlight best practices in safety. close
