Delivery of Tanks to Ukraine Likely to Take "Many Months," NSC Spokesman says

NSC Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby says it will likely be "many months" before the U.S. can deliver the 31 M1 Abrams tanks and provide parts and training needed to use and maintain them on the battlefield. He says the Pentagon doesn't currently have excess tanks in its inventory. Asked about concerns of the tanks falling into the wrong hands, Kirby says there are always "tech transfer concerns" in war, but that the administration is working closely with the Ukrainians to ensure "accountability" and says they've haven't seen any indication of misuse of security assistance to date. close
