To mark International Long COVID Awareness Day, Virginia Democratic Senator Tim Kaine shares his own experiences with prolonged symptoms with the respiratory virus, including his ongoing difficulty sleeping and tingled nerve endings. "I'm on my own long COVID journey. My symptoms are mild, but they have been continuous for three years...The good news it's probably not going to get worse, the bad news is it may not get better," Kaine says. The Virginia Democrat says millions of Americans and people across the world are dealing with mild to debilitating symptoms that impacts their lives and ability to work. He introduces the Care for Long COVID Act that would expand research to increase understanding of treatment efficacy and disparities, educate long COVID patients and health providers, facilitate inter-agency cooperation, and develop partnerships between community-based organizations like social services. close
