Secretary of State Antony Blinken criticizes a ceasefire proposal in the Ukraine war put forward by Beijing, warning that China's President Xi may use his visit to Russia this week to reiterate his call for a ceasefire under its peace proposal. "The world should not be fooled by any tactical move by Russia supported by China or any other country to freeze the war on its own terms." Blinken says that any proposal should guarantee the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine and withdrawal of Russian troops. Secretary Blinken also criticizes the Chinese leader's visit to Moscow just days after the International Criminal Court issued an arrest warrant for Vladimir Putin, suggesting that China does not think Russian should be held accountable for atrocities committed in Ukraine. close
