On This Day: Veterans/Armistice Day

Fighting during World War I was temporarily halted during the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918. This day became formally recognized as Armistice Day to commemorate the ending of the war. Since 1954, the day has been set aside to honor all who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces.
