On This Day: Apollo 13

On April 11 1970, Apollo 13 launched and became the 3rd manned mission intended for the moon. However, plans had to be adjusted after an issue with depleted resources from a ruptured oxygen tank. Halfway through the mission, the crew shifted course for Earth and was recovered by the USS Iwo Jima in the South Pacific Ocean on April 17 1970.

Apollo 13 was set to launch on a mission for the moon, however the plans had to be altered on account of ruptured oxygen tanks aboard the spacecraft.
