House Session - July 19, 1990

The House passed H.R. 5257, making appropriations for the Department of Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education, and miscellaneous amendments. The Walker (R-PA) amendment to cut $65,000 from the Physician Payment Review Commission account was rejected. The second Walker amendment, to cut funds from the Institute of Peace’s Review Commission account, was also rejected. The Frenzel(R-MN) amendment to cut discretionary accounts was rejected. The Penny (D-MN) amendment to cut discretionary accounts was rejected. The Miller (D-CA) amendment to reduce funding for the secretaries' offices, was rejected. The House concluded all general debate and began reading amendments on H.R. 5170, to improve aviation safety and capacity.
