Res. 484, the rule for H.R. 4300, the Family Unity and Employment Opportunity Immigration Act, and began consideration of the bill. The House rejected the two Smith, Morrison and McCollum amendments. The first Smith amendment sought to limit total legal immigration to the United States to 630,000 per year.
