Thirteen Republicans and all 232 Democratic members voted for a resolution to terminate President Trump's national emergency declaration to build a U.S.-Mexico border wall. Under the terms of the National Emergencies Act allowing presidents to declare national emergencies, the Senate must vote on the bill. President Trump had said he would veto the measure if it reaches his desk. Lawmakers also passed a bill related to the management of public lands and natural resources, and they began work on bills to expand background checks for gun purchases.
