The Senate passed S. Con. Res. 147, supporting the actions taken by the President with respect to Iraqi aggression against Kuwait. The Senate passed H.R. 5643, to grant a temporary extension on the authority under which the government may accept the voluntary services of private sector executives, and to clarify the status of Federal employees assigned to private sector positions while participating in an executive exchange program. The Senate began consideration of a motion to proceed to S. 3037, to authorize Federal depository institution regulatory agencies to revoke charters, terminate deposit insurance, and remove or suspend officers and directors of depository institutions involved in money laundering or monetary transaction reporting offenses. The Senate agreed to the conference report on S. 1824, to reauthorize the Education of the Handicapped Act.
