Senate Passes Foreign Aid Package 79-18
Senate Session - April 13, 1994

The U.S. Senate met and continued business on a number of issues. The Senate completed debate on and passed S.21 which designated certain lands in the California desert as wilderness, and to establish Death Valley, Joshua Tree, and Mojave National Parks. They also passed a reorganization of the Department of Agriculture and an amended Payments in Lieu of Taxes Act which offers federal payment to states for taxes those states lose on federally owned lands for which states cannot collect taxes. The Senate also confirmed a judge to the Eleventh Circuit Court and an Assistant Secretary to the Air Force. At the completion of business, the Senate stood in recess until 9am the following morning.
