The Senate Will Convene At 10:00 AM Today
Senate Session - June 21, 2006

The Senate continued consideration of the defense appropriations with debate on several amendments. In the morning debate focused on amendments to raise the minimum wage. In the afternoon and evening two amendments on the future of military operations in Iraq were considered. One amendment, offered by Senator Levin and others, called on the Bush administration to develop and begin implementation of a plan for force withdrawal from Iraq. Another, offered by Senator Kerry and others, called for military withdrawal from Iraq by July 1, 2007, leaving forces in the region and some personnel in Iraq to train Iraqi security forces.
