The Senate continued consideration of Michael Newman’s nomination to be a U.S. District Court judge for Southern Ohio. The Senate also blocked consideration of a House-passed resolution disapproving of a new federal rule that revises oversight of low-income banking services. Members also voted down a motion by Minority Leader Schumer (D-NY) in protest of the upcoming confirmation vote on Judge Amy Coney Barrett’s nomination to the Supreme Court. The measure would adjourn the Senate until November 9, after the elections on November 3, unless a coronavirus pandemic relief deal was reached.
