The Federation of American Hospitals (FAH) held its annual policy conference iwith remarks by FAH President and CEO Chip Kahn, and Senators Ron Wyden (D-OR) and Roy Blunt (R-MO). Senator Wyden said the government faced some tough budget choices as it considered a permanent fix to Medicare’s system for paying hospitals. Chip Kahn, told the audience that the latest research on slowing health spending points to structural changes as a bigger factor than the economy, and he called on lawmakers in Washington to avoid more hospital industry cuts.
