Author Jill Lepore talked about her new book, “The Name of War: King Philip’s War and the Origins of American Identity.” The book describes a conflict between Native Americans and British colonists in New England in 1675 and 1676. It examines how those who experienced the war and subsequent generations have interpreted and talked about the war and what their interpretations reveal about U.S. cultural and national identity. She also took questions from the audience. Professor Lepore conducted much of her research for the book at the American Antiquarian Society collection in Worcester, Massachusetts. close
