The National Press Club sponsored a Luncheon with speaker Gore Vidal, an author. Mr. Vidal spoke about how the National Security Act and U.S. policy in the early stages of the Cold War has shaped U.S. history over the past fifty years. He stressed that decisions, such as to rearm Germany and contain Communism, were made with no consent from the population and caused the fiscal and social burdens of the present. After his remarks, he took questions from the audience. close
